okokok so ik i JUST posted about hozier, but i have another song to yap about while i'm here

and idc what anybody says bc 'in the woods somewhere' is a literary fucking masterpiece and deserves to be talked about

it's a story of grief and mourning, depicting the narrator learning to live his life again without his lover in it. it's written in a way that's easy to understand, yet still poetic and symbolic, leaving a mark on anyone who takes the time to actually understand what this genius of a man is trying to say

"my head was warm, my skin was soaked, i called your name 'til the fever broke. when i awoke, the moon still hung, the night so black that the darkness hummed."

the first few lines paint a picture of grief as well as the sorrow that follows it. the narrator is lost and in pain because he'd succumbed to a fever that was caused by his own lack of care for himself.

he wakes in the middle of the night, which shows that all this misery that he'd been enduring is all very small in the grand scheme of things. it's one thing to endure all this for days on end. but it's a whole separate thing to go through pain and suffering only to find out its only been a few hours.

"i raised myself, my legs were weak, i prayed my mind be good to me."

this is simply more description on how poorly he's doing. before, it was showing his health in a mental sense. now, however, the song is going on to depict how this ignorance toward himself is effecting his body in a physical sense as well.

"an awful noise filled the air. i heard a scream, in the woods somewhere."

i feel like this bit is self explanatory. he woke in the middle of the night, tormented by memories of whoever he's mourning (the person whose name they were screaming in the beginning) and now we know that he's also in the middle of the woods ???

him being in the woods can be symbolic to his lack of awareness for the world around him amid his time of grief, but it can also be in a literal sense ⎯ which is the one that i'll be diving into

"a woman's voice. i quickly ran, into the trees with empty hands."

this is the HUUUUUGE turning point for the narrator's character.

somebody who is grief stricken would normally sleep their days away and let themselves feel nothing but the pain that they believe they deserve. clearly, the narrator is no acceptation to this. we don't know how long he'd been wasting away ⎯ allowing their fever to get worse and their legs to grow weak. though, if anyone were to guess, it's likely been a long time.

now he suddenly hears somebody scream in the distance. and, without a second thought nor a moment of hesitation, he runs directly into the woods without any weapon or means to protect himself.

i feel like this shows how much he truly doesn't care for his health or his life at all, as most people wouldn't run toward danger so impulsively. or if they were to, they'd at least bring something for defense.

but the fact that our narrator didn't goes to show his lack of interest for his own wellbeing ⎯ which is telling, considering he still clearly cares for others around him (hence him running toward danger simply bc someone screamed & might need his help).

"a fox it was. he shook, afraid, i spoke no words. no sound he made."

mic drop.

he heard a woman's scream and ran towards it despite his fever, his weak legs, and his lack of, well, health in general. he did all this only to learn that it's not a woman. it's a fox.

the two creatures ⎯ man and for ⎯ stare at one another, not a single noise being made by either of them.

i like to think that the narrator is seeing himself in the fox for this verse. the way it's staring at him with scared eyes, shaking with fear. there's no way he's looking at it without at least a little bit of recognition, knowing how it feels to be so lost and alone, seeing as he was in that same boat only moments ago.

"his bone exposed, his hind was lame. i rose a stone, to end his pain."

the narrator now sees how awful the fox's situation is. bone exposed, the song says. this means it's likely covered in blood and nearing it's death. in other words, the animal that the narrator could see himself in? it's dying. quite symbolic if i do say so myself ⎯ the fox acting as a mirror for the man to see himself through the eyes of an outsider. and what's the first thing he does when he sees the pure misery of the fox? seek to put the poor thing out of it.

the awareness of there similarities would normally push someone to treat the animal with kindness ⎯ to at least try to help it live. but our narrator knows better. living on when one doesn't want to is oftentimes worse than dying, because you likely already feel dead.

"what caused the wound? how large the teeth? i saw new eyes were watching me."

this verse shows that he's now not just seeing the animal as a random creature. he's pondering and wondering what hurt it and why.

then, he realizes that the animal that hurt the fox isn't yet gone. it's watching him. this is a simple verse ⎯ wondering why the fox was hurt, then turning and seeing the animal that hurt it.

but nothing by hozier is simple, there's always an underlying message. here, i think the message is that the narrator is the new prey. he's now being put in the position that the fox was just in ⎯ parallel to how the fox is in the pained position that the narrator was just in.

"the creature lunged, i turned and ran, to save a life i didn't have."

okay. now this?

this is where it's proven that the narrator is experiencing some character development.

at the beginning, he was rotting away in the soil of some random woods, not caring for his health, wellbeing, or life at all. he didn't give a single fuck whether or not he would die - hence why he's sleeping in the center of the woods with no means of protection on him.

but as soon as this allegedly meaningless life is in danger or put at stake, he now desperately want to save himself. he's trying to save his own life. one that he wasn't sure he even had to begin with.

"deer in the chase, there as i flew. forgot all prayers of joining you."

okay okay okay. bare with me here.

hozier, the man that you are. they could never make me hate you. and this is why.

see, the idea that the narrator was now the prey is confirmed here. he very blatantly compares himself to a deer ⎯ an animal that's known for being prey to those larger than it. he fled the scene like a deer. like prey. like the fox.

"forgot all prayers of joining you" is such an insanely heavy line that i cannot even try and fit it all in here. i could yap forever on it.

we already knew that he wanted to die. we already knew that he nearly killed the thing that he saw as himself [the fox]. we already knew that he was mourning someone.

but here it is, laid out bare and comprehensible.

the narrator had prayed to join his lover, thereby having prayed to die. but now, when it actually comes down to it, he's fighting to live.

"i clutched my life and wished it kept. my dearest love, i'm not done yet."

him clutching his life just shows how painfully desperate he is to live. to not die. he's holding it the way he (should have) held a weapon to defend himself. but due to his previous ignorance for his own life, he now has no way to save this life.

he can do naught but wish. it. kept.

the fact that he's wishing for their life to continue when we just learned that he had wished for it to end??? that's fucking unreal. like. what.

the bolded line is my absolute favorite hozier lyric to exist. there's so many beautiful lyrics that andrew has written and so many that i absolutely adore & could yap about forever, but nothing compares to that line. nothing compares to the first time i registered what it meant and how extremely fucking insane it is.

because. the narrator is not apologizing to his lover, he's simply informing them that he now wishes to live.

but he could have said "i want to live" which would be more simple and much more easy for people to understand. he also could have said "i don't want to die" which, again, would be so much easier to comprehend.

instead, he say "i am not done yet" and i think that wording is so powerfully heavy as it appeals to the idea that more is to come. more bad things are inevitably to present themselves in his life. and, despite that, he wishes to continue.

"how many years i know i'll bear i found something in the woods somewhere."

he then goes on to say that the remaining years of his life will be a burden. he will 'bear' them. he won't live them, because he never said that he wishes to be happy. he simply doesn't wish to die any longer than he already had felt dead.

he says that he found something that day. he found life.

also, this is irrelevant, but i love the fact that the song ended on with the title, but didn't begin with it. because their life started at the end of the song, not at the beginning.

TF2 BAND AU!!!!

Sorta, the band part is more of an extra side thing, it's more of a modern au but they also happen to be in a band.

Me and my tiktok mutual have been working on this au and I've decided to share some of our ideas for it :D I wanna eventually draw something for this au!!

I'm gonna go by character, though keep in mind we are very biased so some characters have a LOT more then others (still this is gonna be a longg post)

But first some general things: their band is called "Team Fortress 2" bc that's the game no way!! They chose to make it 2 bc they thought it was cooler then just Team Fortress. They all go by their canon names (except Spy and Pyro) but I'm gonna continue to refer to them as their classes, even tho they aren't mercenaries in this au and don't have classes but shh ok

Scout

Plays the guitar (can also play drums but insists on being the lead guitarist)

Barely goes to practice, only started going more because Soldier forced him to (they live together)

Practices for performances the day of/a few minutes before performing (or to try impress someone)

Lives in an apartment

Can read, but it takes him really long and he has to sound out ever word (people think he's leaving them on read when really he's just trying to read their message)

Has a motorcycle

Works as a delivery boy for Heavy's family restaurant (more on that later) except the food always arrives cold bc it takes him so long to read the address

Doesn't question the food that "randomly" appears in his fridge, or the raccoon in his apartment (again more on those 2 later)

Has a collection of weirdly shaped guitars (he brings a different one to every practice/performance and it's chaos bc they all sound different)

Streams games on twitch sometimes

He's still scared of Pyro (still)

His room/apartment is a mess, like dirty clothes on the floor kind of messy

Soldier

Plays the trumpet (and most wind instruments, but in the band he plays trumpet. Does it match the rest of the band? No, but he insists on playing trumpet)

Soldier forces Scout to go to practice, like he will physically pick him up ("WE HAVE PRACTICE MAGGOT AND BY GOD WE ARE GOING TO GET THERE ON TIME. NO ONE WAITS FOR YOU IN WAR AND I CERTAINLY WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU" - Soldier probably)

Changes jobs a lot not because he gets fired but because he just feels like it

Insists he's homeless but he sleeps at Scout's apartment and basically lives there, just sleeps on the couch though he doesn't have a room (Scout offered his spare room but he declined saying he was homeless and not staying there long. He still hasn't left 2 years later)

Brought a stray raccoon he named Lieutenant Bites to Scout's apartment

(Along with Scout) begged Medic to learn how to care for raccoons for Lieutenant Bites

Thinks the food that appears in Scout's fridge is some spirit bringing food for them (he doesn't care, he still eats it)

Pyro

Plays drums

Unemployed, sometimes helps Engie at his workshop

Wears the same thing they do in game, everyone else has a sorta simplified/weapon-free version of their outfit (or the same, depending on the character) but they wear the same thing as in game, gas mask and all

Lives with Engie, their room is super colorful and childish

Has a big cabinet in their room full of lighters (they collect lighters)

Like to paint/draw on the walls of their room, invite people to draw with them but everyone is too scared to enter their room so the only one who really does it is Engie, who isn't scared of them

No one knows where Pyro came from, they showed up to practice one day and killed it on the drums so everyone just accepted them into the band, and then Pyro followed Engie home and just stayed there

No one knows Pyro's name, but they answer to Pyro so everyone just calls them that

Most of the other members can't understand what they say, Engie can

Goes to Medic anytime their stuffed animals are damaged and begs for them to be healed

Makes friendship bracelets for the band but no one wears them at first (they eventually do, after being threatened by Pyro)

Heavy

Main vocals (has the voice of an angel)

Brought his family to New Mexico (from Russia ofc) and his family opened a sandwich restaurant

Their restaurant also doubles as their house so his room is just above the restaurant, his room is pretty clean

Works at the restaurant

Sasha exists we are currently discussing on whether she will stay the same or become like a trombone

Is also scared of Pyro

Demoman

Plays the keytar (and a bagpipe bc he's Scottish but in the band he plays keytar)

Lives in his mansion, it's fairly clean, but his room is messy

Lives with his mom

Works several jobs

Basically just him in the comics tbh didn't change him much

He has a horse though, sometimes he brings it places instead of his car, no one knew he had a horse till they all went outside and saw a horse in a parking spot

Wears Pyro's bracelet before they threaten everyone

Engineer

Tech support for the band

But has his own solo career making country music

Other then that he owns a workshop and takes commissions making things (engineer is one of the only classes that can actually be translated into an actual job)

Loves his daughter-son-child-thing Pyro (he adopted them despite them being a grown adult)

His home is small but he keeps it (mostly) clean, unlike his workshop, which is a mess

Also wears Pyro's bracelet before they threaten everyone

Spy

Plays piano

No one knows like anything about him, he prefers not to interact with the other members much

Married to Scout's mom

Scout's dad

No one knows his real name (except Scout's mom)

Still has his watch and can go invisible

Every week he does Scout's groceries (while invisible) bc he hates him but he does still care about his son (does it invisible so Scout doesn't know it was him)

Medic

Backstage help/helps setting up

Makes German accordion covers of songs

Always has like 5 doves following him around (Disney Princess fr)

Experiments on roadkill (his house smells awful)

Lives in a small house by himself with all his birds

Has a shed for his birds (mostly for the winter when it's cold, other then that they just roam around his garden freely

Crashes weddings to save doves

As well as being a human doctor he also knows how to care for birds (yes he is a doctor)

Doesn't like big lights so his house is lit with candles and lamps, it's very dark

His neighbors hate him (the cops are constantly being called to his house)

Likes to go to abandoned hospitals and research facilities to steal chemicals and stuff

Learned to sew so he can patch up Pyro's stuffed animals

No one wants to go in his house bc they think it's scary (except Pyro they don't care)

Sniper

Plays bass (also does background vocals)

Lives in his camper van, it's fairly messy

Sells "drugs" (doesn't actually, they're just vitamin gummies he says are drugs)

Scavenges for things (definitely dumpster dives)

Hunts for his food

Whenever he has bad luck with hunting he eats leftovers from a chuck e cheese (stole this from a 4chan thread I saw on tiktok)

Okay so. Little introduction course to (all I know about) TMNT

There are a few characters which show up in most iterations, that being the four turtle brothers:

Leonardo, he's usually the most disciplined, usually the leader (usually is a word you will see often just because every version has their own way of portraying these characters) One thing that stays the same is that he may not show it but he is a huge dork

Raphael, he's the more hot headed of all of them, resorts to punching before anything else. (There's a lot to all these characters but these are the attributes they are most often reduced to.)

Michelangelo or Mikeyyyyy, he's the fun guy. He's a joker and he's the ray of sunshine in the group

Donatello or Donnie, he's the smarts of the group, huge nerd. He's a scientist though in which field depends a lot on the iteration

They were transformed from normal turtles to mutant anthropomorphic turtles through a green goop. Most often created by a company called TCRI and sometimes called mutagen.

After that you have Splinter, their father and or ninja master. That's the most I can say about him just because he changes so much from iteration to iteration. (From best dad to huge gaslighting bitch) He is also!! In some instances he's a man named Hamato Yoshi who was turned into a rat by the mutagen and in others he was a rat to begin with.

Other recurring characters are the two humans, April O'Neil and Casey Jones, who are sidekicks and friends of the turtles, with April being generally helpful (her attitude changes a lot so that's all I can say that overlaps in all the versions) and Casey being reckless.

And then, you have the two most common enemies which are the Shredder, he leads the army of the foot and is the main antagonist for most of the turtles, as well as sometimes being an old friend turned enemy of Hamato Yoshi.

The other is the Kraang who are an evil Alien race who want to take over earth, most of the time they are the creators of the mutagen that changed the turtles and Splinter.

Now for the different iterations:

*You have the og TV series in 1987 (WAS THAT THE BITE OF- no. It wasn't) Which I don't know much about because I couldn't get past the first episode, it's generally sillier and goofier than the others. Art style wise it's... old....

*Then came the 2003 TV series, the artstyle is old but not unbearable you learn to love it, their donnie and mikey are delightfully snarky, their raph is trying his best despite his anger issues and their leo is very disciplined, self sacrificial and A FUCKING EMO. HE GETS LIKE HALF A SEASON ALL TO HIMSELF FUCKING MOPING BC HE FEELS GUILTY ABOUT 'ALMOST GETTING HIS BROTHERS KILLED' WHEN THERE WAS LITERALLY NO OTHER OPTION AND HE DIDN'T EVEN TELL THEM HE JUST GOT HARSH AND SHITTY AND GET THIS MAN OFF MY SCREEN I WANT TO SEE DONNIE.

*Cough cough* sorry. Don't know what that was. The series often prioritizes Leo. Their Splinter is an awesome dad who was the pet rat of Hamato Yoshi. They also have very cool lore about the Kraang, where the Kraang is the evil half of species and the good ones are called Utrom and the turtles work with them. Also their shredder lasts like four seasons and dies three times but not actually. He's fucking unkillable.

*Next was the 2012 TV series and we have got a 3D animated show on our hands! (This was the one I watched when it came on TV as a kid so it's one of my favorites despite the.... Questionable writing....) It's a lot darker and grittier than any of the others, even the palette is desaturated. Their Leo is again, self sacrificial, kind of forced into the position of the leader by Splinter (who is stricter than most. He cares for his turtle children but he has some questionable actions throughout the series), their raph is much the same as always, aggressive, he has trouble managing his anger and often questions Leo's place as leader of the Team. Their mikey is fun and he skateboards, he's got big youngest sibling energy. Their Donnie is lovely. Nothing wrong with him. At all. Well okay he's a big creep and like a total incel towards April but likeeeee he's funnnn. He does mechanics but you see him do chemistry a lot in the series. I also love this series's Casey just because he's a reckless teen hockey player and he likes to annoy Donnie. It's got some episodes that border on horror those being Parasitica and Attack of the Squirrelenoids which are just traumatizing. This series references and uses a lot of elements from a lot of different iterations and it's kind of like pulling every aspect from other iterations together into one

*In 2014 and 2016 Micheal Bay released two movies that were CGI and had megan Fox in the as April, they're fun, feel good movies, pretty funny. But like. They're Micheal Bay movies it was never gonna be revolutionary. Despite the fact that they called red eared sliders which are semi aquatic and very very recognizable 'box turtles' and that they made Casey who's one of the most anti-establishment characters in he series a cop. It's not horrible.

*Then in 2018 Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles came out (Rottmnt) and it took every established Idea that was followed in the previous iterations and flipped it over its head. A breath of fresh air that was much needed as most of the established concepts had been pushed as far as they could go. Their Leo's an arrogant dumbass, their Raph is the leader and he's a softie that still operates on punch first think later, their Mikey is artistic, sassy and fun and their Donnie is a super genius with an ego the size of his autism. It's great. Their Casey works for the foot. They were created by a completely new character called Baron Draxum using 'Empyrean' and the DNA of a action Movie actor called Lou Jitsu who's power move included yelling 'hot soup' who's actually just the fucking rat too. It's crazy on all sides packed into hilarious 11 minute episodes that we got a season and a half of instead of the SEVEN SEAONS WE WERE PROMISED!!!!!! BECAUSE THE FUCK ASS UGLY TOYS THEY MADE DIDN'T SELL. I'm mad. Anyway they got a movie in 2020 which was like 200% more serious and gut wrenching. It's on Netflix.

i feel like my hottest bravern take is and will always be that i really don't mind the 12eps LMAO. like i thought it provided a fun variety of Situations with which to deal with the DDs and it didn't give it enough time for the gimmick or mystery elements to start to feel old. also i am just generally of the opinion that most stories would work better if you wrote them to be told in X amount of time and then had to trim off like. 40% of that. so i know it's a personal thing but i think it worked well for bravern!!

i do wish we'd gotten to see smith and isami hug if only cause i think isami fuckin needs it. LMAO. but overall i'm satisfied w their arc, especially bc i think the whole "beyond bang brave" thing works REALLY well w smith returning to his human body. like as soon as superbia kicked it i had a feeling that would happen, and obv it's textually referring to isami/bravern/lulu's massive super robot powerup, but i also think it can just mean like. what happens After? cause smith keeps saying "bang brave" or whatever tf when he dies but to go Beyond that is to come back to life and experience a life where he can receive love, too (i.e., via cooking and food AND ALSO via Literally being brought back to life from bravern's heart. who had just merged with isami on a particle level or whatever lmao). so i'm rly satisfied with how it played out in the end :]

overall i think my only real complaint w the show on the whole aside from the military propaganda was that the boys looked like such fucking DERPS in half their shots. lmao. like obviously i'm biased cause i'm a sakuga whore and i actually rly do like their more realistic style a surprising amount cause i usually don't go for that sort of thing but uh. there's a reason that lulu is the human i gif most often and it's cause she always looked better than them by a long shot FSKDLJH. her character animation was consistently the best & most expressive and she was always the most on-model which. FUCKING DESERVED BTW. her arc was incredible and i'm so excited to rly think about her some more and dig into her as like. a rei ayanami clone (maybe even specifically rebuild? w the "your hair grows long inside your mecha" thing) but who takes control of HER OWN STORY TOO and is able to grow wildly beyond being that story point. like i love that she's taken care of too. agh she's really such an amazing character maybe i'll have to cosplay her too FKLDJSHF i'm rotating her in my brain So Much

I know you've said you don't have many thoughts about Revchi but I just wanted someone to rant to since that's apparently what we're doing now and your takes are indeed excellent (shout-out to Neige anon)

I genuinely think he must carry a lot sadness and trauma, that he closed his heart so much. When Gueldre said that all the other Purple Orcas hated him and that's why no one took his side when he got set up, he didn't even deny it or even react. For some reason he won't allow himself to open up to others even when he had the opportunity to make friends. That's totally unhealthy (honestly, the other Purple Orcas probably couldn't be counted on anyway since from what little we see of them, they're the BC equivalent of dirty cops).

I don't know how to word it but there's something so sad about him. He reminds me a bit of Zora in a way, like they both hide their inner pain with cynicism and snark. How he calls himself "just a wretched thief" in the first chapter, the way he somewhat hides his scar with his hair, even the way his speech bubbles are drawn all wobbly??? Someone get that man into therapy asap please

On an unrelated sidenote you've actually made me appreciate Fuegoleon, believe it or not. I used to not care about him at all but now I like him a lot lol

I mean "not having a lot of thoughts" is always relative too. Like, I ended up writing quite a lot for Revchi in that one ask game, which surprised even me. So it seems I had more thoughts than what I thought, but I still don't think it's comparatively a lot if we take into account other characters.

Plus, now that my exams, and this semester are finally over, I have the next three weeks time to do nothing and sleep. Instead of having my braincells running study stuff in the background on an pinned tab, which might affect how many thoughts I have to spare for the fandom. Also, I like having interactions, even if they might be people feeling frustrated over how unloved their borbo is. (Again, as long as it's like constructive; a mandatory side note, because it's a public blog) I know that everyone doesn't want to interact in the comment section or via reblogs, because they don't want to draw that attention to their blogs, which is fine. But these interactions make me feels less like I'm shouting to the wind, and are evoking my love for the fandom again. And I think that the best way to learn to appreciate and get insight of a character is to talk to someone who likes said character (as long as they haven't like... made the character into pretty much just an oc with the same name, y'know the type and issue generally speaking; it happens in every fandom)

ANYWAYS, back on track and to Revchi

I think there are a lot of characters in BC that do that. Close their emotions because showing emotions isn't... allowed in a lot of circles in BC. Just today in our BC dnd campaign we basically concluded "the Magic Parliament, where justice is scrapped and public image is all that matters; welcome to the heart of Clover Kingdom".

Who knows what happened that caused Revchi to get hated like that, but I'd say that when someone is staged for a crime, there is a good chance that they stood in the way of those who ended up setting said person up. So, it's perfectly possible that Revchi was a "good cop among bad ones" and ended up getting hated and isolated by that, probably along with a lot of other things, that essentially just broke his spirit, and caused him to spiral into a "...if being a wretched thief is what's right in this kingdom, I guess that's what I'll be then" or even "they call me as a wretched thief, so I'll show them one". Which is a kind of a call for help, in a way. The man was spiralling. And when he starts to live up to the rumours, and the reason why he was dismissed, he's not doing any favours for himself, but by then he was beyond caring about it.

Why he won't open up, could be a case of being stabbed in the back, figuratively. So, maybe he trusted someone in that squad, maybe even went to Gueldre, thinking that he could trust a Captain of Clover Kingdom, and Gueldre just threw him to the wolves. I mean... if that doesn't shake your belief into the justice system of Clover, what would?

There is a tragedy in there. He's just a guy who tried to do good (as a headcanon, because all of this is purely speculation ofc), and ended up thrown into the mud.

He doesn't believe in goodness of the world anymore. Or that there can be such a thing as "justice" in Clover. Which is very similar as to what Zora feels. Actually. For Zora it's just about what happened to his dad, and for Revchi it's about what happened to him.

I imagine the wobbly speech bubbles to be a kind of a voice cracking up. Because, deep down, he didn't want to do what he did. But he was in too deep in his own head, the cynicism. Because no one would care. It wasn't the kind of a world where people would care, in his mind. The line between a hardened criminal and a knight was a line drawn in sand on a beach.

Who knows, maybe he even thought that stealing a couple of grimoires and selling them in the black market might earn him the trust of the Orcas again. Revchi just might be yet another character that Clover Kingdom failed.

She couldn't hold back and became goth when it was no longer popular. Fortunately, she’s too cool to care about others' opinions, so she dresses as she likes (mega stylish). She prefers only black clothing, which makes her look gloomy most of the time; only close people know that she’s actually very kind (she just doesn't know how to show affection). She’s totally got everything figured out.

She’s all about that "uwu, kawaii :3" vibe, but she’s a bit of a gossip (she loves discussing people with her girlfriends; can you blame her? I don't think so). Mostly when they REALLY annoy her. Other than that, she’s genuinely sweet and tries to become the best version of herself every day. Respect. She keeps up with fashion and dreams of setting trends someday 💅, but it hasn’t happened yet. She also often wears black but loves bright accents (and often dyes her hair strands in different colors).

they’re a ‘siblings or dating’ kinda duo, because they look so alike,, the latter is kinda right tho

they’re besties with Nikita because he shares their spill the tea sis💅🏻’ energy and because all three of them have names that start with "N" (they really connected over that... and their alternative outdated fashion sense). Their group chat on VK is called "Naniii."

Nikita is embarrassed to tell his parents that he only has female friends (bc then they totally might think he’s gay (isn’t it true tho?), and he feels like a depressed loser; because of that, he sometimes ghosts them. They initially argued about this, but wise and understanding Nina eventually gets it (she's generally the voice of reason in their group).

So when Nika starts to complain about Nikita again, Nina defends him. (All the arguments usually start with Nika, but not out of malice—she's just very emotional and hasn’t yet learned to express her concerns in a healthy way.)

Any Camibilly fluff headcanons?

They make sure they have a date night at least every month, just the two of them. They go to a nice restaurant, or to the movies, or they just drive to the beach and have a moonlit walk (I have them living in Pasadena). Sometimes they get themselves invited to a red carpet premiere if they feel like it.

Something I've been thinking about for a while: at some point they renew their vows. Bc their wedding was so rushed, and I don't think Camila ever got any engagement ring, Billy will buy her an eternity ring and they have another wedding--nothing too big, but their parents will be there and Camila's sister (I named her Isabel) and Graham and Jeanie (that's his wife, I think I found her name on wiki and that's what I'm calling her anyway), and Teddy. Julia is the flower girl. And this time around at least they get proper pics! Camila's photographer friend will take care of it.

I once suggested Billy will buy a trip to Argentina for Camila's parents, but idk why I didn't think of Billy and Camila going themselves (and with Julia ofc), but when you said it, it started growing in my head. They go to Buenos Aires (stereotypically the capital, but come on, it's literally one of the largest cities in the world and it's not wild to imagine Camila's parents were from there, even if they/their parents were born elsewhere and moved there for jobs/opportunities). Now, there's an area called Boca and Camila takes lots of pictures there, they visit the taverns and watch tango dancers (ah, there's something here, Billy and Camila dancing tango?). When they get back, Camila sells her collection on Boca to National Geographic and from then on, starts doing street photography. She felt unfulfilled doing those celeb photoshoots. This is what will lead Julia to become a documentary filmmaker.

Billy tries to learn Spanish, I picture him being like the dad character from the Barbie film, you know the husband of America Ferrera's character, the father of that bratty kid.

I can't fit more kids into my imagination (my own bias, I admit), so I'll just let Julia be an only child, but they do have a conversation about whether they want to have more. (I have to discard the one in the show bc it makes no sense). They decide NOT to have any more, at least not for the foreseeable future, bc they're doing good the way they are and Camila is doing her photography work. Then before you know it, Julia is a teen and they're like, eh, we won't bother now, so they don't. But I'm still playing with the idea of them fostering an orphan boy, a child whose immigrant mother died. Needs to be a Spanish speaking one, so probably from Mexico (stereotypical again, but also most likely).

Oh also one thing, Billy does DIY around the house. Kids here are so young, they think love is all long stares and cHeMiSTrY and CoNnEcTIon, but I'm too divorced and too tired and too middle aged to not see the value of having a man around who can fix things, I said what I said!

sooo,, doodleland is basically a place where scrapped/unused characters go to finish "living out their lives." these scrapped characters can be from several different universes originally, making some of them have completely different stories from on another. for example, one could be from dialtown and the other could be from just some country. not all of the people in doodleland are scrapped characters however considering they are uhhh,, canonically able to reproduce,, meaning some characters are just born into doodleland! doodleland also has a weird concept of death,, when they die some people can be gone for a few hours-days and come back or "spawn" back in, some can be gone for weeks-years, and some don't come back at all. i vaguely remember it being mentioned that doodleland characters see each other in different art styles as well?? whatever,, OH THERE'S ALSO ANOTHER (basically just edgy) SIDE TO DOODLELAND!! it's called scrap land and it's basically just like,, doodleland but more crime/less laws and where most of the freaky or overly angsty characters live. literal HORRORS live in scrapland. i thinkkkk that's it for background info?? now onto the main shit <3

doodleland exists solely cause two gods decided to combine their powers and give a place for failed life to start anew. the gods names? agathadaemon and apollo. as you can guess, creating an entire WORLD can use up a lot of energy/power. the gods were reverted to smaller forms and ended up in the world they created. eventually, people start showing up in doodleland and they just kinda,, go about life like normal?? some of my earliest characters to enter doodleland are the atonal parents. technically the atonal great grandparents by the current timeline but whatever,, point is, while i refuse to give these two names, they are the parents of one of my early characters that actually has lore and can lead into some more of the story!! woohoo!! that characters name is alan atonal and his life is,, something. his parents both weren't around often and he struggled with getting attention up until he was "adopted" into a small group of neighbors. the parent situation was purely because his dad worked two jobs and his mom was a nurse btw,, they struggled to get home to him on SEVERAL occasions. the small group of neighbors treated him like a little brother they had never had, leading to him trusting them a bit more than his parents. oh, and one day they took alan down to a lake and alan accidentally tripped and drowned because none of them knew how to swim to save him, but its fine he came back within a few hours with a healthy dose of trauma and a fear of water! as he grew older, he eventually met someone in highschool named sasha bright! him and sasha ended up becoming very close and he learned that sasha was trans! meaning he had changed his name and gotten his hair cut after the word was out, he soon came to be known as vain bright and he, to the current day, still hasn't gone on testosterone or gotten top surgery due to both surgical/needle based fears and just not really caring how his body looks. his parents supported him being trans, making them some of the best set of parents out of the earlier character cast. moving on from that and back to alan,, alan and vain grew closer and alan eventually grew a crush on a girl he knew named alice. he told vain about the crush, expecting his best friend to encourage him to ask her out or give him support or something, but he was simply met with warnings of how terrible the girl truly was. how the girl was going to use him and leave him in the dust, how she was going to treat him like dirt. alan didn't believe him and ended up getting a date with the girl anyway. their relationship was smooth sailing, especially when alan got a job working for the police force! that,, didn't last forever though. alice eventually started to get more greedy. with,, everything. from money to time with alan, she asked for it all. he came home tired and overworked almost every night and she still expected him to cook or take her somewhere. even with all that, alan still proposed to her and ended up getting married to her! her greed worsened, especially her greed for money or items. yet,, alan still loved her. he couldn't just let her go. he gave her several chances before she was finally the one to break it off after she'd had "enough of his complaining." his life got,, a lot better with her gone to say the least. he ended up living with vain for a while and they helped each other in ahem,, multiple ways. he got promoted to police chief and was really good at his job too! down the line, however, he discovered he had a teenage son. one that alice had somehow managed to keep hidden from him for all the years they had been apart. he found the kid one day and figured out that his name was mio,, mio had,, issues of his own. the kid was extremely jumpy along with struggling with the vengeful attitude of his mother who had convinced him the only way to live was by stealing, lying and cheating. alan and the kid eventually got on good terms leading mio to start talking about how poorly his mother treated him. alan, rightfully so, got pissed. him and vain took it upon themselves to go and talk to her about it.

I have to admit I am still obsessed with the shit script. (And no I don't have it, don't even ask, it appeared to me in a dream about university libraries)

And I am probably alone in this corner, partially because most people haven't read the full thing (understandably), partially because people emphasize certain parts too much and partially bc the fandom pretty unanimously agreed it has to be a certain way BUT script!Crowley isn't half the asshole people make them out to be. Just as script!Aziraphale isn't half that demsel in distress people like to paint them ass.

Yes the most commonly known interactions between the two, that are floating around and that most will have seen are grim to put it lightly BUT there are other parts of the script that can give you a whole different perspective of the characters.

Script!Crowley is an asshole sure, but he is also a character that works if you remember that he is a great a coward. Bro is squirming and bootlicking like a champion, putting up that facade of big bad 'i hate everything' demon while in actuality being a rather incompetent loser. The dialogue doesn't state it but he does care for his employees, to the point of having a show off moment throwing out a person, he as demon should whole heartily want to be there for all the bad they are causing, he even learned his employees names which you wouldn't expect from the persona he otherwise puts on. He even has a sweet moment with madam Tracy, offering her a birthday party and asking her to take care of the boy. So he does care he just would rather run away and hope for the consequences to never catch up to him than to state so openly. Also the one time script!crowley is drunk, he is incredibly docile and not at all like the asshat persona ... So there is that.

And for script! Aziraphale, well people sleep on how sassy this version probably could be if he had more 'screen time' outside of emergency situations. And what I mean by that is the first and the last interaction we get between Azi and Crowley is Azi sassing Crowley. Pointing out that's just like a demon to always be complaining and telling Crowley to not start this again when presented with an apple. Script!Aziraphale is not oblivious, he isn't naive or helpless, he simply chooses to not acknowledge the 'bad' parts (best example Crowley's cheating at checkers). But he also isn't above reminding Crowley about his inherent doomedness of him being a demon or striking a deal with a drunk Crowley while being sober himself. (In a sense script!Azi is exactly what some accuse tv!Azi to be).

In general Script!Crowley only gets nasty if stressed and inturn script!Aziraphale get hurt. Or does he really? (And yes this is just interpretation and since we don't have an acted out version you can interpret a lot into the script sooo uhm take this with as many grains of salt as you can) Again Aziraphale is of the opinion, that Crowley is inherently doomed, excuses his cheating with playing along and gives of the vibe of being at least slightly judgemental about Crowleys drinking habit. He is taking on the role of the Optimist in this version. An optimist that also cares unconditionally about Crowley. An optimist that calls someone giving their floor ice cream to another a good deed while also doing artwork authentication knowing that people just want to scam others. To me it reads more like someone who just knows how to push the other's button. Because without fail (well except the last time ) those emotional responses from Aziraphale lead to Crowley faltering and giving in and usually for Aziraphale to instantly switch moods after. And the one time it doesn't work, Aziraphale digs deep and pushes another button, even going so far as pointing out that he knew all along that Crowley only ever won because he was cheating. That is not a helpless naive damsel. That is an undercover bastard.

I could go on writing a full character analysis from that shit script bc hot damn I got more things to say BUT I won't. Also yes even if it ever got to the screen and with a few edits this version would probably just have been mediocre and I am happy we eventually got the TV show HOWEVER I have a soft spot for bad media, I love good omens and overanalyzing on 'screen' relationship and character dynamics is my hobby so it's just natural I got obsessed with it.

Also please for the love of someone, if there is someone out there at least slightly as obsessed with the shit script as I am, please, please, please get in touch. I have no one to talk about it otherwise pfff

Honestly, the only person that kinda sorta underwhelmed me is Hunter, but we got a lot of growth from him in the last season. I think that now that his relationship with Omega is cemented we finally get to see some more of the others and I'm ready for it. Just hope his character trait for the entire season doesn't stay "worried dad, yells at all his coworkers (BROTHERS), because they are getting his child into a dangerous situation (which is in fact inaccurate. they are just in a dangerous situation. with his child. anyway, I didn't like him yelling at Tech that one time that's all I'm saying)"

Is Tech scared to show weakness to Hunter? Where would that come from? What happend there?

Morgan sent this one to me veeeeeery early on as a potential Day song. Might've actually been the first song on the playlist. It's a song for his time with the Aegis: everyone working together for what is clearly some greater good, but the toll gets taken, and you start to mayyyybe get the sense it's gonna haunt you a little bit. haha.

Been obsessed with this song for YEARS. It was my #1 played song in like 2020 i think. I'm so excited I get to put it somewhere. Picking out "standout" lyrics in this song is nigh impossible, but the last verse I think best shows the dual (triple?) meaning I wanted for this song.

On the one hand, it's another Aegis song. It's about choosing to show up and fight the good fight and win against all odds, heavy on reincarnation imagery.

BUT! It's also about Day and Break choosing to walk away. Are they going to be brave enough to stand up against the Aegis and make it clear that something needs to change in the way they choose to fight and die, because their self-immolation is not sustainable. This part's mostly in the chorus and also in the BRIDGE (Remember when you find my bones, remember that I told you so, and when my ashes fall like snow, remember that I told you so) which drives me sooooo crazy insane forever. But also, the selected lyrics above I think have an inkling of this in it, since their whole point in leaving was to get more Aegis on their side. To inspire a movement. (To have their duet become a chorus.) AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's about Day and Break choosing to walk away. Are they really going to go back home with the rest of the Aegis and leave this group of mortals to run headlong into death on their own? God damn it. They've got an inkling of care for these people. No, no, we're going to join them and everyone's going to become stronger for it.

This one's from Bekah in a round about way, she sent me some other songs by this artist, and then rec'd me this one later, and I said girl do NOT worry I already heard it on shuffle and it's on Day's playlist now. Because like, holy shit.

I almost don't know what to say here, the song speaks for itself so well. Day's self isolation was NOT made in a healthy mindset (I won't say that the entire time was unhealthy, because I stand by the fact that in Vigil he did actually become pretty stable, but only bc him "processing" his grief was actually him just getting SUPER good at ignoring it, and then he saw people that reminded him of it and he got bad at ignoring it again). But, point being, he put himself away, Unhealthy style, but refused to acknowledge that that's what it was.

He told people, especially people who didn't know any better, people who weren't as close to him, that he was out doing important, helpful things that just necessitated him being alone. This *especially* was what he told, and silently begged the rest of the Call to back him up on telling, Theo.

Day's pretty sure his absenteeism made him a fucking Hero in that kid's eyes, because he believed the lie that Day kept walking away from him, and his parents, and his uncle, and his aunt, for some greater good. Pair that with the next song about Day wrestling with the implications that Theo grew up on that lie and now he's gotta meet the expectation, and uh. Yeouch.

This one's getting us to current party era. It's about being asked to pick up your sword again and all the baggage and regret that comes with stepping back into that old role with a new group. It's about staring into the distance as Bard and Theo talk about "yeah haha wouldn't it be so great to almost die for a cause like Day and my parents did".

It's about wanting to be as good as you were before so you can be something for these kids and ignoring all the warning signs about which paladin in the party you're playing now (it's not the one it was the first time).

Okidoki so these are the designs for the characters that live in the "broken dollhouse". The ones on the left are their haunted little toy forms, and the ones on the right are what they looked like in life/their spirit forms, and their names/roles.

(Izumi and Storm are my own ocs, Izumi is my edgejeanist bab and Storm is jeanists niece who I haven’t introduced)

This au is semi-fantasy, kinda ghosty, and set in Victorian times (-ish)

So, Tsunagu is a rich lord who owns a giant mansion on the top of a hill, near a forest.

This mansion happened to be cursed. It was cursed by some ancient being in a way that interferes with Death. Extending the lives of those who live in it, abnormally, and cursing things to constantly go wrong.

Tsunagu had an illness that was commonly called "Vampire's disease"

(he was pale, sensitive to sunlight, and quite weak and fragile)

This led to rumours that he was a vampire.

(was he a vampire? Nobody knows...even I don't /lh)

(No he was, but it is still a slightly questioned thing)

Shinya was his best friend and doctor, and he took constant care of him. They were actually together as a couple but had to hide that from society.

Shinya lived with him in this mansion "for medical reasons as his personal doctor" and other rumours said it was because he was widowed and lived with his friend for comfort. The first one is the only one partially true.

They took in other 'misfits', people that didn't fit in, adopted orphans and kids who needed better homes!!

They gave them work and roles as well as a home, but treated everyone as a big family. Their roles were mostly exaggerated for show.

Shinya and Tsunagu went everywhere together and some people were suspicious about it but their go to excuse was always “he is ill and needs constant supervision.” “You heard him, doctors orders.”

At home and with the Family, they acted purely as the practically married couple they were and raised most of the kids as both their dads. (Or uncles for the ones that were brought in by other members of the family)

One day, one of the kids (Izumi) gets gifted a BIG dollhouse, and it’s a replica of the mansion. Down to the last detail. There are no dolls inside though.

A week passes and during this week, everyone falls relatively ill. They are okay, but it is strange.

Then, the tragedy strikes. The soldiers have found out about everything. About the rumours, about who these guys are. And they also come to “execute” Tsunagu on charges of him being rumoured to be a vampire.

They tie Tsunagu up and also tie up the rest of the household in order to “cleanse them from his spells” and they take Shinya to arrest him for “aiding” the vampire. He fights and manages to run inside and lock the doors.

The soldiers set the mansion on fire and leave.

They are left to die. And they do indeed die.

Their souls are trapped inside the magical dollhouse. This wasn’t supposed to happen instantly.

They wake up and feel and look the same as they usually do. But, they know they died. They weren’t supposed to know until they were told, but they knew.

For 50 years they just wandered around their “mansion” assuming they were just haunting it and couldn’t leave.

And then the magical seal broke, the doors to the dollhouse opening and not only that, they transformed suddenly into toys and dolls. They were so confused and scared. They attempted to leave and found out they were inside the dollhouse, inside their bigger burnt mansion.

They explored for a bit and then settled back down, learning that they’d have to just deal with it. Tsunagu knew some things about what was going on but he didn’t really remember reading about them or anything. Shinya also knew things that filled in the gaps from Tsunagu’s knowledge.

They spent another 50 years like this until someone came to rebuild the mansion and found the dollhouse. Suspecting it to be haunted (they were right), they took it to a Toymaker that said he dealt with old toys like that.

Cue them meeting The Toymaker!! Higari!! And they get everything explained to them and their dollhouse and any cracks/rips/tears in them are fixed!!

They get to stay in his workshop and meet plenty of other souls that live inside of toys!

And, well, they get to live their lives a lot more free and peaceful and just. Live. More than they did in life.

Fun facts about the dollhouse:

It has a magical seal that activates the transformations! When the dollhouse is closed, this seal is activated, meaning that they get to look and feel like they did in life. Just. Smaller versions. They are “human” in this form.

But if they go outside or the dollhouse is open, they turn into toys. The same applies to objects, “pets”, food- they are made out of resin or clay but if they’re activated, they get to seem just as real as the spirits are.

The world seems normal, but magic exists in the form of vampires, witches, demons and spirits and so forth.

These are the things that usually are passed off as superstition, but during this time it was very real to them. And in this case it is because it was indeed real.

Magical beings/supernatural beings usually hid from society bc they would get hunted and killed when found out.

Death (as in the all powerful being) created special semi-immortal beings that can carry out certain tasks/watch over souls/etc, for them.

These beings are made up of magic and form shadow-like entities with no physical form, yet they are not living nor dead, so are not classified as a soul or spirit.

They are referred to as guardians/soul guides, along with other nicknames.

Depending on the job they are tasked with and what they were made to do, they are given a human form - this can also be in the form of a vampire/witch/etc, in some cases.

Their magical source is tied to an object/item of clothing that they must keep safe, or else they lose their physical form and must wait to be granted a new one by Death.

Their recognisable sigil is a black rose, which they can use to identify each other. Their items are usually related to a black rose in some way too.

There are different types of souls and lives. Normal folk that lived normal lives/died in regular ways, folk whose souls are meant to pass on, those who die tragically, lives cut short, etc.

And there are special souls that are tied to magic and death in some way, even if they didn’t know in life. These are magical beings, old souls, magical folk, cursed folk, etc.

These are souls that have destined deaths and are tasked to be bonded to objects so that they can be kept safe, and others can be kept safe from them. They are dangerous souls after death - even if they were just human in life.

There are four soul guides tasked with this section of death, and they carry out a constant cycle.

The Stargazer: they are tasked with looking and seeing what souls are next, using constellations and stars (and magic)

The Toymaker: they are tasked with making the toys/dolls/objects needed for the specific soul(s) that are next, made with its magical seal. They also look after all of the spirits once they are in their objects.

The Gift Giver: they are tasked with finding the soon-to-be-dead soul, and gifting them their bound object in some way. They must also collect this item when the soul is dead and trapped, and bring it to the toymaker.

The Storyteller: they are tasked with watching over the deaths and the lives of these souls, writing their stories and making sure everything goes as it is destined to. They are present at the death, and will explain things to the souls and tell them of their lives.

Yep. And these lil things are how they actually look outside of human form, when Death calls them into the spirit world for a meeting. (chibi-fied of course)

Higari - The Toymaker: He makes the dolls and everything and has magic that enables him to bond these souls to their toys and create seals. He looks after them and tries to ensure they live better than they did in life.

His magic is tied to a small music box in the shape of a black rose. 

Everything he does is very toy related, its his lil theme lol

Ecto - The Storyteller: He owns a huge magical book that includes all the stories of all the souls they take care of. His magic lets any story he tells come to life.

(so, little sparkly magical projections show up on the book as he tells the story)

When in toy form, the souls like. Physical soul forms live inside this book and he can watch over them. (they look like lil jellybean ghosts)

His magic is tied to his hat, which has an embroidered black rose on it.

Snipe - The Gift Giver: He gets to take the toys/dolls/dollhouses from higari and gift it to the folks that are gonna die. He then gets to come and collect them after and give it back to him! His magic lets him find the souls, he always knows where they are.

His magic is tied to his cloak, which has a small black rose sigil in the front.

Thirteen - The Stargazer: They get to look into the stars and keep an eye on which souls are next in line for death! Their magic lets them see and predict the next deaths and see all the special souls!

Their magic is tied to their telescope, which has a rose along the side of it.

The broken dollhouse actually causes a lot of problems and issues with their jobs and tasks and they have to go figure it out!!!

It all ties to the ancient demon being that cursed the Mansion, and them having to fins a way to lift that curse so that they can get back to work as normal 

They are a mess. Professional semi-immortals that constantly are chaotic and are a complete mess.

Ecto and Higari have a sort of ‘old married couple bickering/divorced couple but they arent actually together’ dynamic. However, the also have never met each other in their human forms, so it goes… interestingly-

The haunted lil dolls get to help set them up on dates and also just watch them be disasters.

It's a mix of “oh it's you… it's my turn to look after the souls” “oh go back to your storytelling-” and “eheh…hey…so you- yeah you wanna get lunch sometime?” “that would be great :))”
